What criteria do I have to meet to become an applicant?

Answer the following questions to find out:

- Are you a full-time university student or a student of third level education, studying at a university that is based in South Africa ? (You can be on your study abroad year, so long as your parent University fits these criteria)

- Are you in good standing with your University or School and achieving better than passing grades in your chosen course of studies?

- Will you be between age 18 and 25 as of June 1, 2008?

- Were you born in South Africa, or are you a citizen of South Africa and call it your permanent home, even if you weren't born there.

- Are you free to fully commit to a six month program that begins with selection on March 27th and ends with graduation and Alumni induction on September 12-13th 2008?

- Are you available to participate for a full and uninterrupted six weeks in the USA between June 15th and July 27th 2008?

- Are you available for personal and group interviews in Cape Town on March 26th 2008?

- Are you available for the orientation process to immediately follow selection on March 28-29th?

- Do you have a valid passport, or can you obtain a valid passport by the end of May 2008?

- Are you willing to demonstrate "leadership through service" by working a minimum of 30 hours on a public service internship between April and June before you come to DC?

- Are you fit and healthy enough to travel and actively participate in a vigorous program?

- Are you willing to dedicate FIVE days living and working together on a local Team Community Project over the weekend of September 6th-10th 2008 in a needy local community upon your return? And to follow up over September 11th for a final evaluation and program wrap-up?

Did you answer YES to all of the above questions?

If you did. Congratulations! You are now eligible to apply to the South Africa Washington-Intern Program-“Leadership through Service” 2008.
