SAWIP was founded in 2007, as an extension of the 15 year old Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP) – a six month program of personal and professional development aimed at developing future generations of leaders for a post-conflict Northern Ireland and Ireland.
The individuals that established and developed SAWIP, in South Africa, Washington, DC, Ireland and the United Kingdom, have brought extensive knowledge and experience as well as significant networks to the program.
