Carel Kleynhans
Carel Kleynhans is a student of economics with aspirations of finding ways to address the massive urban- developmental issues facing Africa and the world. Outside of his studies, Carel wrote/produced a TV show at age 17, co-organized South Africa’s largest music tour for several consecutive years, founded South Africa’s foremost Afrikaans-culture blog, and co-curated SA’s largest TEDx conference. He also founded a multi-university organization for critical thought, attended South Africa’s Brightest Young Minds Conference, travelled to 19 countries and represented South Africa as a student liaison in China in 2011.

Shannon Lambrechts
Shannon is in the final year of his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at Stellenbosch University. During his studies he has served on the Science Student Committee for two years, one of which as Chairman of the committee. As Chairman he represented the faculty of Science on the Academic Affairs Council (2009 – 2010). Shannon is a passionate young leader who believes in developing young people from an underprivileged background by facilitating the transition from school to University through mentorship and “buddy” programs. He hopes to further his studies in Medical Virology and pursue his dream of developing affordable vaccines.

Bachelors in Industrial Psychology and Philosophy
Jason is a third year student at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) studying Industrial Psychology and Philosophy. Jason, a Springbok Scout, represented South Africa at the track cycling world cup series in 2008-2009 before returning to studying in 2010. A graduate of the Emerging Leaders Academy at UWC, Jason has a passion for leadership and youth development. He dedicates himself to the UWC Peer Mentoring Programme, which focuses on assisting first year students in adjusting to the new challenges of tertiary education. Upon completing his degree, Jason wishes to further his studies in the fields of life coaching and business so that he may achieve his goal of running a leadership academy for both executive and youth development.
