Washington DC.

PROFESSIONAL EXPOSURE

Real world experience provided through six week work exposure in prestigious environments in Washington, DC.

The South Africa-Washington International Program is helping to inspire, prepare and support South African youth to lead a sustainable democracy with a peaceful and prosperous future for all its citizens.

An Auspicious Occasion

The SAWIP graduation was held on the 23rd September 2011 at the Lord Neethling Restaurant, Neethlingshof Estate in Stellenbosch. Our guest speaker, Professor Lulu Tshiwula (UWC Deputy Vice Chancellor - Student Development & Support) commended this year’s Team for what they have done thus far and urged them to continue on their path of serving their communities.

The evening bore testament to the talented and active SAWIP youth.

Thuli Montana spoke of the Team’s group community service initiative, LeadYoung, where the ripple effect of service leadership has already taken place through a feeding scheme at the Desmond Tutu High School and leadership training for peer learners at the Blouberg High School. Dempers Meyer spoke of his remarkable SAWIP journey and Thembi Losi spoke of the need for youth empowerment as she herself has experienced through SAWIP.

This was a wonderful occasion that saw the culmination of the SAWIP 2011 program celebrated by SAWIP board members, staff, family and friends. To the Class of 2011, we wish you well in your endeavours.
