Mandela Day

There is something about children that brings out the tender heart of even the most fierce
of people. To be amongst the innocent and helpless, knowing your own relative strength
to theirs, makes one take a step back and cherish the invaluable things in life.

To be amongst the innocent and helpless, knowing your own relative strength
to theirs, makes one take a step back and cherish the invaluable things in life. Spending
Mandela Day at the Masiphane Baby Haven (supported by His People Church) was one
such moment where I appreciated life and my heart extended to the young. We played
with the kids, bathed them and fed them but more than that we showed them love – the
meaningful hugs or words of encouragement were by far the greatest gift we could have
given them. The day ended with volunteers rocking babies to sleep and the desire to make
everyday a Mandela Day, giving back not out of charity, but of love.
