The South Africa-Washington International Program is helping to inspire, prepare and support South African youth to lead a sustainable democracy with a peaceful and prosperous future for all its citizens.

Misha Charles

(Vice Chair) - Special Assistant to the President and Chief Officer for Government Relations, Keene State College

Misha Charles is the director for institutional development at Boston-based charter school network Building Excellent Schools. There, she works with new and experienced school leaders to recruit, train, and support charter school governing boards. Misha has a decade of experience working with higher education and nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and South Africa. Previously, she was the special assistant to the president and chief officer for government relations at Keene State College and the director for planning and board relations at the international nonprofit organization Phelps Stokes. She was also a lecturer in quantitative literacy at the University of Cape Town. Misha received her AB in history with a certificate in African American Studies from Princeton University. After graduating from Princeton, she studied at the University of Cape Town, where she earned a BA in African studies and an MA in historical studies. She also holds an MA in international education from George Washington University.
