Jan is an innovative, high energy professional with many years experience in consulting, general and program/project management in the development sector. She owns and runs an independent developmental education, training and mentoring consulting practice based in Johannesburg, She is deeply interested in global socio-¬economic transformation and committed to young people leading better lives.
She is a qualified adult educator and has many years experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders in entrepreneurship, education and development, currently primarily with young people. She has worked in all nine provinces and in Botswana and Lesotho. She has led her consulting practice for the last 10 years.
Her recent accomplishments include developing and implementing mentorship programs and conducting evaluation studies with young entrepreneurs. She is passionate about the future potential of South Africa with its resilient and developing economy, its wondrous array of people and animals, cultural heritage and beautiful environment and is committed to contributing to building the capacity of young people to lead the country into a strong and sustainable future.
She believes very strongly in principle-driven, responsible and caring leadership. In this regard she is currently volunteering time at the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation and African Leadership Academy mentoring young undergraduates and high school students. She also sits on a Youth & Development Social Board of the African Leadership Academy, advising student groups doing community service by means of a range of development projects with local communities. Jan was born in England and has lived in South Africa for 37 years. She is a South African citizen and has a 28 year old son. |
