Additional Information for Applicants
What will it cost you?

This programme is aimed at developing your leadership potential and strives to select excellent students. We therefore require that each student contributes R6000 to the South Africa Washington-Internship Programme (SAWIP). It is preferable that this money is not provided for by parents, we encourage each student to approach corporates, and other potential funders. This will be your first leadership exercise.

Students who do not have the financial means to cover the Programme costs or their own personal expenses involved are still however encouraged to apply. Lack of means should never mean lack of opportunity. You may apply for financial assistance if you are accepted by the programme and are eligible for the scholarship. Financial merit and need will be assessed on a case by case basis.

The money you pay covers all your major at-home programme costs including:
  • Orientation weekend.
  • Team Community Project & Re-Entry Weekend
  • Graduation, Alumni AGM and Induction- Reunion
  • Graduation Certificate
  • Visa and application fees
  • Your health and travel insurance
