On July 6th both the Classes of SAWIP  and WIP as part of their Public Service volunteered for the Restoration Project with City of Hyattsville.  Public service forms one of the cornerstones of our program and we are unequivocally committed to ensuring that in all we do we are aligned to this commitment.

The Restoration Project is aimed at restoring some of indigenous plants and some species of animals, insects that are only found within that region in the USA. This is achieved through the maintenance of the plants and ensuring that there is a constant monitoring of some of the insects, primarily the distinct species of butterflies found in the Magruder Park.

The SAWIP & WIP team were tasked with building a 3 meter wide pathway that would ensure the that the residents of Hyattsville have access to walk through the park and appreciate the wild plants in the area. The SAWIP and WIP Teams also undertook the task of cleaning the side of the boardwalk removing dirt and refuse that would endanger the well being of the animals and plants.
