Petrus van Niekerk is a second year business management and development studies student at the University of Stellenbosch. He has recently become more actively involved in a local NGO called REAR (Reconciliation and Restoration) operating in the poverty- stricken parts of Cape Town that aims to mobilize people to define their own poverty, needs and development. He intends becoming a minister of reconciliation who mediates peacemaking in local communities where socio-economic and/or socio-cultural conflicts arise.

He aims to daily participate in the networking of young visionaries of his country who dream of a prosperous future for the Republic of South Africa where the consequences of the past injustices of segregation are eradicated and all its people become united.
