A few nights ago the SAWIP team of 2009 had the opportunity to speak about our beloved country, SOUTH AFRICA. Our speakers were Emma, Sabelo, Fazlin, Petrus and Lebuso and they all did a stunning job.
Standing in the Capitol Building thousands of kilometres away from home and listening to these voices representing the more than 45 million voices from back home gave me chills down my spine.
As a young South African I always knew about the harsh past of my country and the injustice suffered by many, but standing in the Capitol Building, many kilometres away from home, I realised that South Africa has changed and that the situation has improved. I felt hopeful, proud and amazed at the power of the people back home.
To my fellow team mates who spoke, you all did an amazing job and spoke with pride and adoration about this place we all call home.
Dear Nadine
Sounds as if it was a wonderful and inspiring experience.
Take care
Sally
