“Home is where the heart is”

Today I came across a few words which I think really encompass this journey that we are on:

“If you think you are beaten, you are:
If you think you dare not, you won’t
If you like to win, but don’t think you can
It’s almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost;
For out in the world you’ll find
Success begins with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in a state of mind.

For many a game is lost,
Ere even a play is run,
And many a coward fails
Ere even his work begun”

In four weeks from today we’ll be packing our bags and boarding a plane for home. Whilst Jean and Thami warned us that this summer would fly bye it still seems crazy to think that almost two weeks has past since we arrived! Week two brought with it an incredible leadership curriculum day on Monday, an opportunity to watch four of our WIP friends debate and time for us to come together as a group and plan a presentation on South Africa. Tomorrow Penny Mitchell will kindly be hosting us and our host families for a braai at her home and I know that we are all looking forward to celebrating Fazlin’s twenty-first on this day as well! Last Sunday Zee and I took a trip to the Pentagon Memorial and only then did it really begin to sink in that we are here and that this experience really is happening. From reading everyone’s blogs it’s easy to see that we are all enjoying ourselves, building friendships, being challenged, growing and sleeping very well each tiring day after the next but not once have we lost track of where we are from or where we are going – home, where we’re needed.

    I really enjoyed talking to you at the O’Hara’s on Sunday, Samantha, and hope to get to know you better in the next couple of weeks.
