The South Africa-Washington International Program is helping to inspire, prepare and support South African youth to lead a sustainable democracy with a peaceful and prosperous future for all its citizens.

Declan Heery

Declan Heery, an Irish national, is an alumnus of the Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (class of 2002) and founding member of the South Africa-Washington International Program. Declan serves as secretary of the SAWIP board in Washington, DC.

 

Declan began his Washington-based career at the International Finance Corporation in 2002, working in the Corporate Relations Department on a number of external publications and internal communications projects until 2007. Since then, he has worked in the World Bank’s Human Resources Vice Presidency assisting leadership with internal communications and change management in implementing a number of global HR change initiatives.

 

Declan holds a BA in Economics and Politics from the National University of Ireland, Galway and a Masters in International Studies from the University of Limerick, Ireland.
