The South Africa-Washington International Program is helping to inspire, prepare and support South African youth to lead a sustainable democracy with a peaceful and prosperous future for all its citizens.

Declan Heery

Declan Heery, is an alumnus of the Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (class of 2002) and founding member of the South Africa-Washington Internship Program. Declan serves as secretary of the SAWIP Board in Washington, DC, and is involved in all areas of the program's activities, particularly internship placements and fundraising Educated in economics and international relations at the National University of Ireland, Galway and the University of Limerick, Ireland, Declan now works in change management and internal communications for the vice president of human resources at the World Bank in Washington, DC.
